Why “Antioch Academy”?
Acts 11-13 gives us a snapshot of the early church in city of Antioch and the Apostles’ ministry that led to an abundance of local church leaders and teachers who strengthened their church and were sent out as disciple-makers and church-planters!
This course is designed to increase the competency and confidence of those who serve within TMCC. A well-rounded understanding of local church ministry will give greater clarity to how our individual roles and responsibilities relate to and are dependent on those of others.
Time Commitment & Cost
This is an 8-month training course that follows a traditional school year, starting September 2025 and ending in May, 2026. This amounts to a 27-week commitment that is intended to be on top of your current serving commitments and Life Group involvement.
The lesson plan includes 4 elements…
Weekly Assignments. Approximately 2-3 hours of weekly reading and workbook assignments will be assigned on topics such as Bible study, theological clarity and discernment, roles and responsibilities within the church, and practical ministry philosophy.
Monthly Class Time. Eight 1.5 hour-long monthly meeting (4 on Zoom and 4 in person) will create space for a short lecture, learning from others in the course and asking questions about class work.
Quarterly Writing. 3 position papers will help improve understanding and articulation of topics such as spiritual gifts, evangelism & outreach and discipleship.
Ministry Project. A ministry project will be assigned by the end of the first semester to be completed by the end of the course. Typically, students pair up to plan and execute.
